Two London cab drivers have generously donated their time and experience of organising treasure hunts to Capital Radio's Help A London Child 2001.

Phil Stern and Rob Woodford, who recently set up their own events organising company Absolute Events UK Ltd, were thrilled to be contacted by Capital Radio's fundraising department after an article appeared in Taxi Newspaper.

Said Phil, "We got a phone call from Capital Radio the day after Taxi Newspaper ran a feature on our company. They were interested in meeting up with Rob and myself to 'pick our brains' on an idea they had - little did we know that a week later, we'd be the ones organising the event!"

Capital Radio will be hosting their first ever treasure hunt on March 30th featuring forty cabs liveried with its new logo and treasure hunting teams from their corporate sponsors. The cabs, which are being 'sold' for the event for £2,000 a piece, will help launch the Help A London Child (HALC) weekend. Teams will be required to solve clues, collect treasure and beat their rivals back to a secret venue for lunch and live entertainment.

"It's a fantastic opportunity for Absolute Events UK Ltd," said Phil, "but most importantly, it's a fantastic charity. All the clues will test not only the cabbies' street knowledge, but the general knowledge of the teams. Of course, being Capital Radio, we've made the treasure hunt musical, and there are hopefully going to be lots of smiling faces at the after-event party."

Despite being such a new company, Absolute Events UK Ltd has kindly donated their fee to HALC. Last year, the HALC events raised over £1 million for more than 375 London-based charities for underprivileged and disadvantaged children. The charity was launched in 1975 by Lord Attenborough, and is now a well publicised and well loved annual event.
