CAB ATTACKS - BE WARNED
Police confirm regular attacks in Brixton
There have been more reported attacks on cab drivers working in the Brixton area. A driver was attacked at the junction of Loughborough and Akerman Roads, and was punched in the face when the door of his cab was opened as it was moving off from a traffic light in the area. The four attackers tried to rifle the driver's pockets, and the quick-thinking cabbie threw his coin dispenser into the road, hoping that they would run after it, which they did - but not before removing the ignition keys from the cab.
A passenger in the back of the cab managed to phone the police while the attack was in progress, and they arrived in minutes. Police have confirmed that attacks of this kind are a regular ccurrence in the area around Loughborough junction. So be warned.
