IMPORTANT TX1 VEHICLE SAFETY RECALL
Monitoring of TX1 vehicles in service has shown that there is a possibility that misalignment of the steering box mounting points arising during the manufacture of the TX1 chassis may cause the steering box bolts to lose their tension, and ultimately result in the failure of the of the the steering box bolts with the possible loss of adequate steering control.
London Taxis International is recalling all affected vehicles for modification. This work will be carried out free of charge, and includes examination and modification of the steering box chassis mounting, and replacement of the steering box securing bolts and washers.
Ed Osmond, LTI Engineering Director said, it will take some time to deal with all vehicles in service, however, if you have any concern regarding the steering of your vehicle (excessive play at the steering wheel), while waiting for it to be rectified, contact your dealer at once, so it can be examined and dealt with without delay. Dealers will deal with vehicles as quickly as possible, with priority being given to those with the highest rcorded mileage.
This safety recall is being run in accordance with the joint DETR and SMMT code of practice concerning safety recalls. The Vehicle inspectorate will carefully monitor the response rate to the recall.
